On December 17, 2025, Klane Yancey Anderson passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous five-month battle with aggressive lung cancer.
Klane Yancey Anderson was born in Pocatello, Idaho on June 17, 1965 to Gale and LaJuan Anderson, the fourth of six children. He grew up on Whitaker Road in Chubbuck, attending Pocatello schools and graduating from Highland High School in 1983.
Klane attended BYU for a year and then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sydney, Australia. Following his mission he returned to BYU and spent a semester studying abroad in Jerusalem, where he met his future wife and eternal companion, Kelley West. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 13, 1988.
Klane and Kelley continued to study at BYU in Provo, where their first child, Aaron, was born. The three spent a summer in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where Klane did an internship for Amoco Foam, developing recycling methods for polystyrene. Klane received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from BYU in 1991, after which he accepted a job in Huntsville, Alabama, for Intergraph, teaching computer software classes to engineers. Klane and Kelley lived in Madison, Alabama, for five years, during which they welcomed two more sons, Justin and Nathan, into their family.
Klane decided to return to Pocatello to help his father in the family business, AnderSons, Inc., in 1996. It was not long before he welcomed his only daughter, Elizabeth, to the family. After a number of years as Vice President, he took over leadership of AnderSons in 2001. Klane’s assistance allowed his father, Gale, to continue to work in the business until age 90. In 2023, AnderSons, Inc. celebrated 100 years in business. Over the years, Klane’s wife Kelley and son Justin have assisted in his work at AnderSons. Klane was kind-hearted and loved by his employees and customers.
Klane was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and has served in many callings in the Church, including Bishop, Elders Quorum President, Young Men President, Scoutmaster, and Cubmaster. He loved serving with the youth and especially with his own sons as youth. Klane was passionate about serving and donating to those in need. He always put others before himself. It must be said of him that he “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38).
Klane enjoyed activities in the outdoors, including hiking, cross-country skiing, kayaking, and biking. He didn’t enjoy gardening and yard work as much, but he was always willing to help Kelley in her garden and yard projects.
In recent years Klane and Kelley have had the opportunity to travel to many state and national parks around the country. They were able to visit Canada, the Dominican Republic, Italy, and Jamaica. Their dreams of more extensive travel and a Church mission in retirement have been cut short, but they are grateful to have had these precious journeys together.
Klane is survived by his wife, Kelley, three sons Aaron (Heidi Judd), Justin, and Nate (Andrés Alava), and daughter Liz (Levi) McKell, granddaughter Astraea, brothers Ken, Richard, and Eric, and sisters Julie Bish and Celia Dion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gale and LaJuan Anderson.
Klane and Kelley express gratitude to the staff at the Portneuf Cancer Center, Portneuf Medical Center, the Huntsman Cancer Center, and Enhabit Home Health for their care and kindness to Klane.
