Kunio Yamada 95 passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025.
Kunio Yamada was born December 9,1929 to Isotaro Yamada and Misao Hashimoto. Kunio was the 6th and final child of his parents.
Kunio was born and raised in Pocatello Idaho. He graduated from Pocatello High School. After graduating high school, he spent most of his adult life farming in the Blackfoot area with his brother Jiro.
Kunio was a loving and devoted son who faithfully cared for his mother for 28 years after his father passed until her passing.
Kunio never married or had children of his own, but he loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, and they loved spending time with him.
One of their fondest memories is of Kunio pulling them in the snow behind the tractor in an old bathtub.
Kunio had a kind heart and a cheerful personality that drew people to him. To know him was to love him.
Kunio loved animals they were drawn to him. When he was at his sister Toshi’s house her dog was always on his lap or following him around. But he especially loved Geroge his cats yes plural cats all named Geroge. He said that it made it easier he only had to call one name to get them all to come for dinner.
He enjoyed fishing in the little spare time he had.
Kunie was an active member of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL)
Kunio was proceeded in death by his parents and all his siblings and their spouses and one niece.
We would like to thank Heritage Home Health & The Gables for the loving and compassionate care they graciously provided in his last days.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5th Avenue Pocatello, Idaho. 37 East, Row 17, Space 6.
