Larry Bullock

October 25, 1936 — September 28, 2024

Pocatello

Larry Lester Bullock received his promotion into heaven on September 28, 2024.

Larry was born to Joseph Lester and Emma Roseltha Bullock on October 25, 1936, in Pocatello, Idaho. He grew up just south of town on the Bullock homestead, where he learned the value of family and a hard day’s work.

On April 4, 1957, Larry married the love of his life, Norma Elaine Lehman. Two years later, they welcomed their first son, Monte, followed by two more sons, Bart and Phillip. Though Larry and Norma later divorced, they remained good friends for the rest of their lives, always putting family before their differences.

Larry had many hobbies, but his favorites were fishing, boating, camping, traveling, and gardening. He had a green thumb and could grow anything!

He was known for his ability to fix and build almost anything, with a deep well of patience and determination. Larry wouldn’t stop until the job was done and done right.

Throughout his life, Larry mastered several trades. His first job was at the Purina Mills plant, where he hauled bags of grain. He later drove cement trucks for Patton and Linton Cement (now known as Pocatello Ready Mix) and worked many years as a brakeman and switchman for the Pocatello Railroad, particularly enjoying the route through the Montana mountains. Larry was also a skilled carpenter, building many homes over the years with his business, Bullock & Sons Construction. After retiring from the railroad, he continued working alongside his sons in their company, Bullock Brothers Construction.

Above all, Larry cherished time with his family. He never missed a Sunday dinner, was always ready to lend a hand on his sons’ projects and supported his granddaughters in every adventure they embarked on together.

Larry was well-known in the community, often seen at local restaurants where he enjoyed a good cup of coffee and a hearty meal, given the nickname Smiley by some of his favorite servers.

He will be remembered for his infectious smile, positive attitude, and his favorite saying: "Every day is a good day."

Larry is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Bullock; his mother, Emma Bullock; and his sisters, Gloria Kingsford, and Treva Krebs.

He is survived by his sister, Marilyn Bullock; his sons, Monte (Michelle) Bullock, Bart (Brandie) Bullock, and Phillip Bullock; his granddaughters, Keely Christensen, Maicie Bullock, and Burgandie Bullock; and his great-granddaughters, Mercie Cardona and Lydia Spicci.

A viewing will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Wilks Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, on Saturday, October 5, 2024, with the funeral service immediately following. A graveside service will take place afterward.

A gathering and celebration of life for family and close friends will be held at the Bullock Homestead - 2671 Bannock Hwy. following the burial.
