Leon Jeffrey Holmes, 58, passed away on September 1, 2024.

Leon, beloved husband of Audrey, passed away in his home on September 01, 2024. His accomplishments were so numerous in life that it was hard not to write a small book for this.  Nevertheless, we begin.  Leon was born on November 08, 1965 in Sebring, FL, to Howard and Pamela. He had one sister, Mary, and two brothers, Bruce and Andy. Leon’s father worked for an oil company that stationed him in Saudi Arabia. The family lived many great adventures there and eventually moved to Germany for a new job opportunity. Tragedy struck the family when Leon’s father died in a plane crash. His mother, Pam, moved back to the United States where she eventually met and married Lloyd Carr. Together they had one daughter and 3 sons; Erin, Trevor, Daniel and Sean. The Holmes/Carr Family spent the remaining years of their childhood in Alta, WY. This is where Leon got to know and fall in love with his childhood sweetheart, Audrey. They were married on December 27, 1983, in Driggs, ID and were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on December 30, 1986. They had 3 children together; Danielle, Tia and Adam. All three of their children were born while Leon was in the military. He was stationed at Fort Ord in Monterey, CA. His battalion went to Egypt to serve with the Multi-national Force and Observers (MFO) where he worked as a scuba instructor at the Red Sea. He enjoyed this immensely and was able to go on many dives throughout his life. His most recent dive was an “underground cave dive” in Cancun Mexico. This was a special one because he got to dive with his wife and friends, the Johnsons. He attended Ricks College after the military where he received an Associate’s Degree in Arts and Sciences. After graduation, he spent a summer, logging, while living in Parker, ID. Leon moved his family to Pocatello, ID in December of 1991 after securing a job as a firefighter. He spent most of his working years as a paramedic. He also worked for the BLM, Life Flight and as a general contractor, which kept him busy building two to three houses a year. He worked extremely hard for his family and it cost him a lot of pain and injuries. After 5 years of being empty nesters, Leon and Audrey adopted 5 children; Rochelle, Christopher, Jessica, Megan and Lucas. They were sealed to their adopted children in the Idaho Falls Temple in 2012. After retiring from the Fire Department, he spent more and more time helping out neighbors and family. He was a prime example of what service to your fellow men should be. Leon loved his wife and children and enjoyed spending time with them. He always made sure they had plenty of opportunities to enjoy life. He brought the fun to everyone and made sure he spent the time to guide and mentor wisely. Leon also had an artistic talent and immaculate hand writing. He loved the water and all its activities. He was a good shot and enjoyed hunting. His favorite treat was coconut cream pie and ice cream. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, grandpa and friend. Leon was also a coach, a scout leader and a protector. He loved going to the temple with his family and with the youth. He administered many ordinances and blessings and served in his callings well. Leon made many friends and lived many adventures. We are brought peace in knowing his new chapter in life will be filled with many more.

He was survived by his wife, Audrey Lynn Green, daughters Danielle Permann and Tia Luthi (Brian), Rochelle Holmes, Jessica Holmes and Megan Holmes, and his sons, Adam Holmes, Christopher Holmes and Lucas Holmes, parents, Llyod & Pamela Carr, sisters, Mary Sherman (George) and Erin Dance (Michael), brothers, Bruce Holmes (Tina), Andy Holmes (Robyn), Trevor Carr (Dana), Daniel Carr (Danna) and Sean Carr (Staci), grandchildren, Jason Permann, Alexander Permann, Michael Luthi, Bella Permann and Lydia Luthi. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy & Beryl Holmes and Jack & Marcela Baker, father, Howard Arthur Holmes, Aunts, Nancy Burns (Richard) and Hazel Holmes, uncle, Dr. Ralph Holmes, and his grandson, Jace Aiden Luthi.
