Linda Christiana Covert, our beloved wife, mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 23, 2023. She passed away suddenly of natural causes while at home surrounded by loved ones.
Linda was born in Frankfurt, Germany to Dr. Donald Reed Jensen and Brigitte E. Jensen on December 1, 1956. After living in Germany for several years during her father’s US Army deployment and academic pursuits, the family moved to Logan, Utah, where she became a sister to her twin siblings, David and Donna. When Linda moved to the United States she spoke little to no English, however experienced no difficulty acclimating to life outside of Germany. Not only did Linda excel academically, at a very young age she was recognized as a gifted vocalist and musician. One of her defining qualities was her unfaltering resilience. Through trials in her life, Linda showed unwavering strength and determination.
When Linda was close to 10 years of age, the family later relocated to Normal, Illinois where her father worked as a professor at Illinois State University. Shortly after they moved, Linda underwent the first of six brain surgeries. Her most recent neurosurgery was in 2007. Despite such hardships, she won all-state in Illinois for voice and was scouted by Julliard and the University of Illinois. Shortly before graduation from high school, she had emergency brain surgery which diminished her vocal excellence. She was able to attend graduation from University High School in Normal, Illinois and was so proud that she regained mobility and strength to walk across the stage to accept her diploma.
Staying near her parents and siblings, she enrolled at Illinois State University. Little did she know that she would meet the love of her life, Chad Franklin Covert, on Valentine’s Day during a “campus function.” They were later married on December 31, 1975. The couple welcomed three children, Reed Franklin, Michelle Christiana, and Renee Elisabeth. As a returning student, Linda later completed her Baccalaureate of Science in Speech Communications from Illinois State University.
Linda spent many childhood summers with her paternal grandparents in Pocatello, Idaho. Following her love of the Mountain West, the family moved to Pocatello, Idaho in 1992. Linda excelled in developing long-lasting relationships which rocketed her career in sales. She was recognized for numerous achievements from national companies and continued her career as an entrepreneur by using her expertise in customer relations.
Linda was the most compassionate of persons by always putting her family and friends before her self-interests. Linda loved those in her life beyond measure, including her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, by sharing her testimony with others. Linda loved being with Chad both outdoors in their motorhome and while wintering in Arizona. She loved her family unconditionally and provided comfort any time day or night. She absolutely cherished her time being a Nana to her seven grandchildren, including two sets of twin girls. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Prior to her passing, she was able to attend her eldest granddaughter’s high school graduation, her first set of twins’ 16th birthday, and her second set of twins’ 3rd birthday. Although Linda is now gone from this world, she is seen in the faces of her children and grandchildren. Not to be forgotten, Linda was a coffee connoisseur. We will all miss our time together enjoying a cup of coffee with her. Over the years, Linda loved her pets, especially her long-haired miniature Dachshund, Rosie.
Linda is survived by her husband, Chad Franklin Covert and their three children, Reed Franklin Covert (Sandra), Michelle Christiana Barkdull (Brady), and Renee Elisabeth Gault (Adam). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Cienna, Isabelle, Abigail, Nolan, Ella, Claire, and Chloe. She is also survived by her twin brother and sister, Donna Brent and David Jensen.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Donald Reed Jensen and Brigitte E. Jensen.
Services for close family and friends will be held at a later date.
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8
