Linda Kay McClurg (Patrick), passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, at the age of 81.
Linda was born on November 10, 1944, in Blue Earth, Minnesota, to Dwight and Joyce Patrick. Throughout her life, she called many places home, living in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Arizona, Oklahoma, and ultimately Idaho, where she spent her final years surrounded by family.
Linda married Albert “Al” McClurg, and together they welcomed two children, Mitchell McClurg and Shelly Galindo (McClurg). Though their marriage later ended, Linda continued to build a life centered around family and the things she enjoyed most. She later married Steven Horne and moved to Oklahoma. Following Steve’s passing, she returned to Arizona, where she spent many years working and building lasting friendships. She later shared many years of companionship with Glenn Derrick before moving to Idaho in 2024 to be closer to her family.
Linda dedicated much of her career to Thunderbird High School in Phoenix, Arizona, where she was a familiar and caring presence to students and staff alike.
Linda found joy in life’s creative and practical pursuits. She loved painting, knitting, sewing, playing the piano, and preserving food. Her greatest happiness, however, came from sharing these passions with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether teaching a child to knit, showing them how to can food, or sitting beside them at the piano, Linda enjoyed passing along the skills and hobbies she loved.
Linda will be remembered for her artistic spirit, her independence, and her stubborn determination. She knew her own mind and rarely backed down once it was made up. Her legacy lives on in the lessons she taught, the traditions she passed down, and the memories she created with those she loved.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Shelly Galindo; her daughter-in-law, Karen Adams; her sister Vicky Rykhus; her grandchildren, Kristina McClurg, Andrea Galindo, Michael (Megan) McClurg, Shane Galindo, and Marissa (Emily) McClurg; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Mason, Zachary, Adison, Canza, Alice, Maddox, Kingston, and Lennox.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dwight and Joyce Patrick; her son, Mitchell McClurg; her former husband, Albert McClurg; her husband, Steve Horne, and her longtime companion, Glenn Derrick.
Special thanks to Wilks Funeral Homes for making this process easy.
