Linda Jane Whitworth, 84, passed away on June 17, 2026. She was born on September 30, 1941, to Robert F. and Elizabth Jane Hammer in Los Angeles, California.
When Linda was in the 5th grade, the family moved to Marsh Creek to join her grandparents on the ranch. Later on, they moved to Indian Creek outside of Inkom. This became their permanent home.
Linda graduated from Marsh Valley High School in May 1959. In July 1959, she married the love of her life, Duane Whitworth.
They had two daughters, Melissa and Wendy. They spent much of their time camping, fishing, 4H and rodeoing as a family.
Later on in life, she was very excited to get grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved them all and loved the time she spent with them.
Linda loved being a homemaker and kept a beautiful home and yard. She loved to cook and for a while she cooked at the Inkom Elementary with her dear friend Jane. She also cooked for our roundup and family branding.
Linda also loved to play cards. She was in two or three card clubs. She was also a member of the “Country Gals” riding cub, doing various projects from parades to civic projects.
After she lost her husband, Linda’s health failed and she was eventually moved to an assisted living center, where she stayed until her passing.
As a family, we would like to extend a special thanks to all who saw to her at Edgewood, especially Kelly, who was there for both her her and Duane until the end.
She leaves behind a loving sister, Nancy (Larry) Fitch; two wonderful daughters, Melissa (Greg) Olson, and Wendy Ward and their loving families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Whitworth; grandson, Neil Andersen; parents, Robert F and Elizabeth Hammer; and grandparents, Rizden and Ethel Barron and Jane and Bonnel Little; and son-in-law, Troy V Ward.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at the Inkom Cemetery, followed by a gathering and luncheon at Inkom Park.
