Ludene Nelson Davis

With full and tender hearts, we share that Ludene Nelson Davis, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, returned home to her loving Heavenly Father on August 31, 2026, surrounded by her children. Born in Pocatello, Idaho, on August 5, 1949, to Virgil and Idella Ward Nelson, Ludene was the youngest of three children. Her older brothers, Darnell (Jackie) Nelson and Terry (Linda) Nelson, adored her and showered her with love and admiration throughout her life.

Ludene married Eddie Davis, and together they raised five beautiful children. Though they later divorced, they remained friends and united in their love for their family.

Ludene lived a life defined by faith, generosity, and unconditional love. She brightened the lives of others with her kind words, sweet smile, glamorous style, and sincere friendship. As an endowed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she centered her life on the Savior. Her discipleship was quiet, steady, and sincere—expressed through service, kindness, and the way she made every person feel seen and loved.

She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings throughout her life—Relief Society, Young Women, Primary, and the Activity Committee. She also served faithfully in the temple and loved every moment spent in the House of the Lord. Ludene was a perfect example of the light of Christ, spreading that light to everyone she met.

Her kitchen was the heart of her home. Her banana bread, crunch bar, cinnamon rolls, and family dinners were never just food; they were love made tangible, nourishment for both body and soul. She found joy in serving others by delivering goodie bags and dinners to family, neighbors, and friends—her greatest expression of love for all she knew and cherished.

She loved life deeply, but nothing brought her more joy than gathering her family. As her family grew with grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, her joy only deepened. She especially loved when family came to visit and raid her candy dishes and treats. She was the ultimate party planner and holiday lover—creative, organized, and always thinking of ways to bring love, laughter, and people together.

There is profound comfort in knowing that the woman who spent her life planning family gatherings was welcomed into the ultimate reunion on her father’s birthday. We are grateful her passing was peaceful.

She is survived by her five children—Jennifer (Clark) Hanson, Mikalene (Tim) McLaughlin, Kristie (AJ) Watson, Spencer (Summer) Davis, and Dustin (Karen) Davis—who were the center of her world and carry forward her love, strength, and devotion to family.

She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, who brought her endless laughter and pride: Carter (McCall) Hanson, Paige (Alex) Leonardi, Davis (Sydnee) Hanson, Amber (Ethan) McConkey, Andrew (Brittney) McLaughlin, Ali McLaughlin, Mikayla McLaughlin, Treagan (Jacelyn) Watson, Hallie (Carter) Fellows, Canyon (Isach) Zirkel, Sydney Bailey, Kordell Hymas, Marissa Davis, Jaxson Davis, and Charlie Davis.

And her precious great‑grandchildren, each one a new light in her life: Blakely, James, Easton, Giovanni, Genevieve, Hanson, Walker, Palmer, Paisley, Margot, Winston, Kinzlee, Nova, Kalani, Brantley, and Jaxton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Idella Ward Nelson.

She also leaves behind extended family and dear friends who will forever feel the impact of her love. She will be deeply missed, never forgotten, and always loved.

As taught in Alma 40:12, “The spirits of those who are righteous are received into a state of happiness, a state of rest, a state of peace.” We find comfort in that promise and trust that Ludene now rests in peace.

Her legacy of love, faith, and family devotion remains with all who knew her. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 4, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 555 North 100 East, Kaysville, UT 84037. Viewings will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Lindquist Mortuary, 400 Main Street, Kaysville, UT 84037 and prior to the service on Friday at the church, beginning at 9:00 am. Burial will be held at Mountain View Cemetery , 1520 S. 5th Avenue, Pocatello, ID following the service.
