Mac G
Hatch
November 19, 1949 – May 26, 2026
On May 26th, 2026, Mac G Hatch was unexpectedly called home by his Heavenly Father at the age of 76 while vacationing with his wife and four of his five sons in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Mac was born November 19th, 1949, in Pocatello, to Bert and Lillian Hatch. The family welcomed his younger sister Susan on December 15, 1951. Both Mac and Susan shared the same solitary middle initial that was derived from the surname Grieves, Lillian’s maiden name. Mac lived in Idaho Falls and attended elementary school there until 1961, when his family moved to Twin Falls. He was academically accomplished and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1968. From 1969 to 1971 he answered the call and faithfully served an LDS mission to San Paulo, Brazil.
Promptly after his return to Twin Falls, his mother introduced him to Marsha Ann Wasden who would become his wife and lifelong partner. They were married on January 25th, 1972, in the Manti Temple in Manti Utah. Mac and Marsha both attended Brigham Young University in Provo Utah where Marsha gave birth to their first child, Peter. After Mac graduated from BYU, the family moved to Las Vegas where they were blessed with four more sons, Curtis, Michael, and the twins, Kevin and Dennis.
Mac supported his burgeoning young family working as a certified public accountant for Main LaFrentz, a prominent Las Vegas accounting firm. They lived in Las Vegas for about five years before moving to Reno so Marsha could be trained to help Curtis with his speech after an illness left him severely hearing impaired. While in Reno, Mac was welcomed to the accounting firm of Elmer Fox & Co.
Mac and his family relocated once again in 1980 back to Twin Falls, where he went to work for Beckstead Cooper. Mac’s career continued to flourish, and he eventually started his own accounting firm, with his partner and friend of many years, Leroy Hayes, under the name Hatch and Hayes. He later went on his own, under the name of Hatch and Company. He was then joined by his sons, Michael, Curtis, and, for a time, Kevin.
Mac’s life was defined by a profound sense of responsibility and an unstoppable work ethic. He was knowledgeable, ethical and devoted to his clients. He took immense pride in caring for and providing for his family. He also was known for his grumpy façade, a playful, if faintly sarcastic, sense of humor, a love of dogs, and a craving for authentic ethnic food. His adventurous palate led to a love of travel and his later years were punctuated by cruises and tours of other nations and cultures.
Despite encountering considerable resistance, Mac instilled his work ethic in his sons. He also shared with them his love of fun. He will be deeply missed.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Lillian. He is survived by his wife, Marsha, his sister Susan and her husband Dan, as well as his sons and their wives, Peter and Cynthia, Curtis and Christina, Michael and Melodie, Kevin and Andrea, and Dennis and Paula. His legacy continues in thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Wilks Funeral Homes, 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho 83301. Mac Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 824 Caswell Ave W, Twin Falls, Idaho 83301, with a viewing from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, also at the church.
