Margie J Stewart

Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Margie J. Stewart, peacefully passed away on June 28, 2026, at the age of 89.

Margie was born on June 18, 1937, in the family farmhouse in Dayton, Idaho, to Hans and Mattie Jensen. She was the youngest of eight children and grew up surrounded by siblings, nieces, nephews, and a close-knit community. She attended school in Dayton and carried throughout her life the strong values of faith, family, hard work, and service that were instilled in her during those early years.

Margie met and married her beloved husband, Larry Stewart, when they were both very young. They were married on May 17, 1954, at the family farm and began a devoted partnership that would span decades. Together they raised six children: twin sons, Dan and Don; and daughters Sherrie, Shauna, Roxie, and Polly. In December 1988, they were sealed together for eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Margie and Larry opened their hearts and home to many over the years. Family, friends, neighbors, and countless children found a place of comfort and belonging under their roof. Their home was always a welcoming place where others could find kindness, support, and a sense of family. Through their generosity and caring spirits, they touched the lives of many and created lasting friendships that spanned generations.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Margie devoted her life to serving others. She fulfilled many callings throughout the years, but her greatest joy was serving in Primary, where she loved teaching and caring for young children. In 2001, she and Larry were called to serve in the Nigeria Lagos Mission. It was the first and only time Margie ever traveled by airplane. She came to love the missionaries with whom she served, nurturing and teaching them in countless ways—including how to make homemade bread.

Margie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Stewart; her sons, Dan and Don Stewart; her daughter, Roxie Lammers; her siblings, June Sant, Blanche Jensen, Martha White, Jack Jensen, Vaughn Jensen, Velma "Betty" Rosa, and Jerry Jensen; and her parents, Hans and Mattie Jensen.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherrie (late husband Jim) Maynard, Shauna (Greg) Boren, and Polly (Lanny) Nelson; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Margie carried a special light and was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ. She welcomed others without judgment, loved unconditionally, and served selflessly. Whether through her missionary service, ministering to those in need, or caring for family and friends, she reflected Christ's love in all she did. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and unwavering faith touched the lives of countless people. She will be forever loved, deeply missed, and remembered with gratitude by all who were blessed to know her.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 225 Oakwood Drive, Pocatello, Idaho.

Viewings will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Wilks Colonial Chapel, 2005 South 4th Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho, and again prior to the funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the church.

Interment will follow the service at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 South 5th Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho.
