Marie Ilene Cash

Marie Ilene Cash, 86, of Boise, Idaho went to be with the Lord, in her sleep on Saturday, May 23, 2026. She was born on January 13, 1940, in Nampa, Idaho to parents Lucille and Herbert Kirkwood. She was the younger of two children.

Marie spent her early years growing up in Nampa on the family farm. She loved horses as a young girl. Although she never had a horse of her own, she would often sneak over to the neighbors, and saddle up one of their horses and ride for hours.

Marie attended Nampa High School where she met the love of her life, Edward (Ed) Cash. One year while in high school, Marie and Ed were crowned Sweetheart Queen and King. After graduation, Marie and Ed were married August 16, 1958. They had two sons, Gordon and Greg.

In the early years, Marie and the boys traveled to many states with Ed while he was in the Army, in school, and training to become a helicopter pilot. They eventually settled in Boise, Idaho.

Marie spent many years working in the banking industry. She was an Executive Secretary at First Security Bank in Boise (now Wells Fargo). In 1993 Marie and Ed became co-owners of Rogers and Cash Insurance company in Boise. Marie left First Security to join Ed at the insurance company in 1996, where she was the Financial Accounting Manager, as well as Co-owner. It was not uncommon to see their beloved dog Misty, sitting on her pillow on Marie’s desk. Misty went to work with them every day.

Upon retiring in 2008, Marie and Ed spent as much time as they could traveling all over the United States and to Alaska in their motor home.

Marie will always be remembered for her hobby. She loved dolls! Marie would buy, refurbish and then sell dolls. Her favorite dolls to work on included American Girl, Modern Alexander, Muffie’s and Ginny dolls. Marie was an expert with extensive astounding knowledge on each doll and the original clothing and accessories that went with each of them.

Marie loved spending time with her family and will dearly be missed.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and Herbert Kirkwood, her husband Edward (Ed) Cash to whom she was married to for 16-1/2  years, until his passing in May of 2020.

Marie is survived by her older sister Sylvia (Leighton) Marker, her two sons, Gordon (Rachael) Cash; Greg (Linda) Cash; four grandchildren Stacey Cash, Sabrina Cash, Aaron (Briana) Cash, Amanda (Justin) Igou; and four great grandsons, Carson Cash, Skogen Lloyd, Austin and Carter Igou.

Marie’s service and Celebration of Life will be conducted at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Road, on Sunday August 16, 2026 at 2:00 pm.
