Pocatello

Martin A. Weigel, 69, of Pocatello ID, passed away December 24, 2025 at Monte Vista Health Center, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born on March 4, 1956, at the St. Anthony Hospital in Pocatello, ID, to Henry and Alta Young-Weigel. He attended Tendoy Elementary, Alameda Jr. High, and Highland High School. He joined the Marines and fought in Vietnam, proudly serving our great nation. He moved back to Pocatello after being discharged. He then lived in Yakima, WA where he met and married Sandy Young. They were later divorced. He was a great handyman and could do almost anything. Martin was a multi-talented carpenter, plumber, and car mechanic. Most of his life he was a truck driver, driving countless miles across the country.

Martin loved his Harley Davidson motorcycle, which he enjoyed taking on long road trips. He was an avid hunter and loved fishing. He possessed a strong love for the great outdoors. Towards the end of his life, his partner of 13 years, Vickie, took great care of him, always staying by his side. Martin was a great influence and inspiration to many. He celebrated being 25 years sober this year, which he was very proud of.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Alta Young-Weigel, his brother, Robert (Bob), and his sister, DeeAnn.

There will be a graveside burial at Mountain View Cemetery sometime in the spring.
