Mary Belle Hanson

Mary Belle Hanson, 102, passed away on August 14, 2026.

Mary Belle Lacy Hanson was born May 29, 1924, in Lamar, Colorado to Arza Stone and Myrtle Lillie Smith Lacy as the fourth child. Mary spent her early childhood in Colorado moving during the Depression to Missouri, then to Peoria, Illinois. She married Louis Clark in 1947. From this union came, Mary (Joyce) Clark, Carolyn Arzella Clark, and Daniel Keith Clark. They later divorced. On April 22, 1966, she married Thomas J. Hanson. They combined families and welcome Raymond, Mickey, Deanna, Richard, Tommy, Jae, and Brad.

Mary was very talented. She could make school clothes from a picture in a catalog, paint pictures, and crochet everything under the sun. All her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren have blankets and stuffed animals that she created. She loved making afghans.

It is hard to summarize 102 years of accomplishments. Everyone loved her and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Mary “Joyce” Collins of Mountain View, WY, Carolyn Arzella Sparks of Pocatello, ID, Daniel Keith (Shirlee) Clark of Inkom, ID; grandchildren, Candy (Butch) McFall, of Bairoil, WY, Sean (Lauri) Morgan of Mountain View, WY, Chris (Desiree) Morgan of Pocatello, ID, Bobby (Amber) Morgan, Greg (Jeanette) Lange of California, Desiree Clark of Pocatello, Collin Clark of Idaho, Mickey (Kelli) Hanson of California, Deanna (Charlie) Cambon of Boise, ID, Richard Hanson of Arizona, Tommy Hanson of Cedar City, UT, Jae Lowder of South Jordan, UT, Brad (Terri) Hanson of West Wendover, NV; foster daughter, Bernice (Kevin) Gray; sister, Verna Jett of Illinois; and numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tom; grandson, Michael Gollihugh; and siblings, Arza Daniel Lacy, Kenneth Lacy, Rozella Foster, Margaret Kernodle, George Lacy, and Norma Jean Lacy.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the wonder staff of Symbii Hospice, especially Laura Green, who helped Mom reach peace. Another thanks to Brookdale of Chubbuck Assisted Living, whose staff loving cared for Mom for more than three years.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2026 at Wilks Colonial Chapel, 2005 S 4th Ave, Pocatello, ID 83204. A viewing will be held prior from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Interment will follow the services at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
