Michael Evan Fernandez

Michael E. Fernandez, born on May 12th, 1969, in Jerome, ID, passed away on October 31st, 2025. He departed while surrounded by family, overlooking the beautiful view of the Portneuf Range from his room in the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.

Michael, or more commonly referred to as Mike by friends and family, is survived by his partner Misti Keller, his children Sky Stanley and Nickolas Fernandez, his many nieces and nephews including Tiffany Shephard, Jennifer Alcarez, Sara Crawford, Jessica Torres, Jordan Fernandez, Monica Caldwell, Chase Fernandez, TJ Fernandez, and Justin Fernandez, as well as his siblings Ron Fernandez, Raymond “Sonny" Crawford, Maggie DeShazo, Joe Fernandez, Tim Fernandez, and Paul Fernandez, his cousins, his friends, and all other lives he touched along the way. He was preceded in death by both his parents, Joe and Josie Fernandez, as well as his brother, Tom Fernandez.

Mike was known for his athleticism and resilience. As a teen he won awards in many sports, namely wrestling, and could always be found with his lifelong friends James Settles and Darrin Osborn. He was soon after wed to his former partner, Dawn Kesgard, with whom his children belong. He spent many years working for Lamb Weston and Conagra Foods accomplishing great work for these companies, including designing a new machine with his friend and colleague Phil Klein. Mike was a pillar for his community in his later years, helping many of the elderly near his residence with chores and errands. He cared for his mother in her final years, as well his partner’s, Misti, parents until his final days.

Mike will be remembered for his vigor and love. There will be a service in Jerome at the St. Jerome Catholic Church on November 14th at 2 PM, as well as a celebration of life on what would have been his 57th birthday in the same city. More details for the latter will be provided at a future time.
