Michael “Mike” Lynn Roan, 74 of Pocatello, Idaho passed away January 20, 2024, at a local hospital. Mike was born August 25th, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska to Byron “Bud” and Betty Roan. He is the second oldest of seven children: Pat (Allen) Smith, Marcia (Randy) Clayton, Julie Danzig, Byron (Jan) Roan, Steve (Dee) Roan, Don (Jana) Roan.
They moved quite a bit growing up. He attended school in Thornton, Colorado and had many fond memories of living in that area. The family moved to Pocatello, Idaho where he graduated from Pocatello High School in 1968. He also graduated from Idaho State University for Vocational-Technical Education in 1972.
He married Cheri and had a daughter, Michelle (Mark) Fenn, who was born in 1969. They divorced and he had a brief marriage before meeting Sherrie and having a daughter, Angela (Andrew) Romriell in 1985. He has always been proud of his two daughters and five grandchildren. He was soon to be a great-grandfather.
He was a manager at Flandro Ford for many years before opening his own shop, Mike’s Auto Collision. Which he owned and operated until his passing. His love for anything loud and fast was contagious. He loved showing his grandsons all the neat things he knew how to master. He loved spoiling the girls with fancy gifts and hugs.
His sense of humor was one that will never be forgotten. Everyone who knew him had at least a couple of stories to tell about him. He never hesitated to help anyone who needed it. Even If it was someone, he just met that was having a bad day, he would send or bring them a card or flowers to make their day better.
He was a “dad” to many and a favorite uncle to most. He was a rebel, a giver, a teacher, a clown, and a devoted Christian. His knowledge of the Bible was fascinating. Listening to him talk about it was enticing and comforting. He was the kind of person that if you were lucky enough to become a friend, you were a friend for life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his older sister, and former wife, Kim. The world here on earth will be dimmer but knowing he has made his, undoubtedly dramatic, entrance into Heaven gives us a big smile. He was excited to meet his Maker and start his next journey.
Don’t cause too much trouble up there, Bad to the Bone Roan, we love you.
Following Mike's wishes, he had made the selfless decision to donate his body to Idaho State University's Anatomical Program. A celebration of life will be planned when the weather is warmer so we can be outside to rev up some engines and make some noise!! We will make sure all that will want to attend are invited. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you help a person in need or make someone laugh in remembrance of Mike.
Service information will appear here when it becomes available.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family under the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
