Myron L. “Munch” Martin 66, of Fort Hall Idaho passed away on November 25, 2022 from natural causes.
Myron was born to Herbert R. Martin Sr. and Christine L. Wildcat in Pocatello on October 11th 1956.
He attended schools locally and at Kicking Horse Job Corps in Ronan, Montana and would later receive his GED at Idaho State University.
Myron held various labor jobs in the surrounding Fort Hall area. In between jobs he made beadwork, handgame drums or used his mechanical skills to make a means to provide.
Myron grew up in the Bannock Creek and Buffalo Lodge Districts on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation. Spending time with either his maternal grandmother (Gagu) Mary Pooengerah or Paternal grandmother (Huutzi) Phoebe Burton. Both teaching him our traditional (Sosoni) Shoshone language, beadwork, use a sewing machine, how to skin and make rabbit stew. In his younger years he did a lot of traveling with his aunt Aldene P. Pevo to various handgame tournaments and powwows all around the state of Idaho, and in Canada. When he wasn’t traveling, he could be found working on cars with his dad as they both were known for being local mechanics.
Myron was together with Linda Smith for 14 years before parting ways and from this common law marriage they had two daughters, Iona Jean and Mindy Lee Martin. Sometime later he married Alvina Phelps but then divorced.
In his later years Myron enjoyed reading and beading, Facebooking, watching TIK TOK videos and his favorite tv shows Jerry Springer, The Maury Povich show, The Price is Right, Ice Truckers, old westerns, binge watching Quantum Leap, watching his favorite NFL team Green Bay, listening to his favorite girl Fergie Ferg, The Temptations, handgame songs and spending time with his family, especially his (zozo) great granddaughter Iona Leigh.
Myron’s quick wit and crazy jokes will be surely missed. His saying was “It’s not Goodbye, it's See you laters”.
