Nancy Jean Dixon Burt passed away of natural causes due to age on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.
Nancy was born on January 9, 1929, to Harvey Wells Dixon, and Persis Alice Tinker in Preston, Idaho. When she was a few months old, the family moved to Shoestring, Idaho in the Gooding, Idaho area. There she was schooled in a one room schoolhouse until the family once again moved to Pocatello, Idaho and resided on Nixon Rd. There she grew up with her family, Gilda Opal, Frank Fredrick, Persis Alice, & Elsie Mae, until she married Robert Harold Burt.
Bob and Nancy were married on March 11, 1947, and sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had been married for 76 years in March of this year.
Nancy was queen of all she touched: seamstress extraordinaire, quilting, canning, cooking, and crocheting. She excelled at literally everything that could be done by hand, including carpentry and flower arranging. She was giving away crocheted baby clothing up to a week before she passed. For herself and her husband, Bob, service was their life. They were forever taking care of people.
Even in her work, she took care of people while serving as a CNA in both Idaho and Washington. Their marriage was blessed with seven children: Van Carl, LaWanna Fay, Teresa Kaye, Sharee Jean, Dean Thayne, Keenan Ray, and Yvette; 28 grandchildren 87 (so far) great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.
Mom was a member in good standing of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She believed in and loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. It was also an avenue for her many acts of service. She served anywhere they asked her to, from chorister to Relief Society President, and everything in between. She and Bob served a mission to North Carolina in 1999 and still communicate with the people they loved there.
Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter Sharee Jean Burt Jones; grandchildren: Jeremy, Tawny, Jacqie, Tilene Persis, and Oliver Troy; her parents: Harvey Wells Dixon, and Persis Alice Tinker Dixon; Bob’s Parents: Harold Osborn Burt, and Violet Crystal McMahan Burt; sisters: Persis Weston and Gilda Wade; brother Frank Dixon; sisters-in law: Naomi, Velma, Irma, and Letty; and brothers-in-law, Larry Reed, Earlen Wade, and Dick Arnold.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Robert Harold Burt; 6 of her 7 children: Van Carl of Boise, LaWanna Faye(Joel Edwards) of Pocatello, Teresa Kaye (Ron Davis) of Chubbuck, Dean Thayne (Nancy Jo) of Ritzville, Washington, Keenan Ray (Vickie) of Pocatello, and Yvette (Wayne Lott) of Pocatello; her sister, Elsie Mae Lively of Pocatello; many brother and sister-in-laws that she adores; and dozens of nieces and nephews that she has loved unconditionally.
