Nancy Lou Miranda

Nancy Lou Miranda, 64, passed away peacefully in Pocatello, Idaho, on July 30, 2026 with her husband, David, and daughter, Cicealia, by her side.

She was born on April 10, 1962 to Robert and Mary Helen Svancara in Pocatello, Idaho. She was the baby of her family and loved by her five siblings. Many would say there was always something exciting and fun happening in their home.

For example, when she was about four years old, Nancy decided to take a nickel out of her mom's purse, walk a few blocks to the grocery store, and buy herself balloons. Her stubborn nature was already showing; “no” wouldn’t be an answer she could accept, so she simply didn’t ask. Thankfully, a friendly stranger rescued Nancy from crossing a busy street and Nancy’s where-about were announced on the radio. Thank goodness her mom was listening!

Another story about Nancy- when she was almost eight years old, she was being teased by her brothers. On this day, she decided to take her brother, David’s, car and run away from her teasing brothers. She was full of fun and had a wild spirit. There was never a dull moment being part of the "Hidden Village Meadow Brook Street Gang."

Later, when she was attending Pocatello High School, most weekends, Nancy and her friends skated at Deleta Skating Rink. One particular day, as the story goes, she threw a skate at a “poor innocent” guy named David Miranda. It was love at “first skate.” David had seen Nancy from afar for many years, seeing the cute girl getting ice cream at Buttree’s. He hoped maybe one day, she would give him a chance, even if it resulted in a skate being thrown at him.

She and David later married on September 24, 1983.

Their life together brought four wonderful children: Barry, Kiri, Shantel, and Cicealia. They became their whole world. Together they loved them and did everything in their power to make them have wonderful lives. At times when life was hard she showed her love with powerful pep talks, gifts, cooking, and of course, unconditional love. In her eyes, they could never do wrong, and she never judged them, either.

Nancy's large heart also extended to many fury-friends. She couldn’t stand to see them suffering or alone. She was often found rescuing cats from the middle of the road, taking many, many pictures of them, and keeping them close to her heart. Some of these precious animals included Freya, her oldest kitty, who passed away last year, and her other kitties, Wolfie, Silly, Ashes, Hiccup, Toto and the youngest, Lucky.

Famous for her amazing lasagna, which she made with love and honor. Her family members would beg for her to make it, in fact, she would make it when anyone asked. Her recipe lives on, which her family hopes to make just as good as she did.

She enjoyed going to the casino, dancing around to classic rock songs, and watching Adam Sandler or Sandra Bullock rom-com movies.

She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Svancara, her step-father, Robert Tauscher, brother-in-law, Andrew Miranda, grandparents, cousin Paul Miranda, in-laws Andres & Jessie Miranda, and beloved nephew, Aaron.

Nancy is survived by her husband, David Miranda, her children Barry (Monique) Miranda, Kiri (Tuku) Edwards, Shantel Miranda, and Cicealia Miranda, her mother, Mary Orner Svancara Tauscher, her siblings Robert (Penny) Svancara, David (Gama) Svancara, Steven Svancara, Susan Svancara (Dexter) Denny, and Gary Svancara. Her nephews Jeremy, Shawn, Eric, Alex, Randy, Joseph, Kyle, and Lytle, her niece Joni, her granddaughter Azundra Galindo, her great-grandchildren Copelin and another on the way, and her close family friends, Aerlia Ortiz and Star Decker Peterson.

Words can’t express how painful the loss is for her friends, family, and those who she touched. There were many.

A viewing will be held for Nancy on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Wilks Funeral Homes.
