Nancy Marie Nelson

Jul 9, 1949 — Sep 30, 2026

Twin Falls

The kind and witty spirit of Nancy Nelson was released on September 30, 2026.

Nancy arrived in the welcoming arms of Al and Martha Nelson on July 9, 1949, joining two older brothers, Scott and David. The cast of siblings was completed with the addition of Sherie, Andy and Mary Kay.

After graduating from Twin Falls High School in 1967, Nancy attended Idaho State University, earning a bachelor's degree in social work with the intention of saving the waifs of this world.

Her 30+ year career included working for the State of Idaho Health and Welfare in Adult Protection, Child Custody and with Medically Fragile Children. She also worked as a discharge planner at Pocatello Regional Medical Center.

On October 21, 1972, Nancy and Gary A. White married in Twin Falls. Their much-anticipated son was born on October 16, 1982. Despite busy and stressful careers, they were devoted parents and reared a delightful son. Sadly, Gary and Nancy's marriage was not sustained and they parted in 2003. While Gary and Chris remained in Pocatello, Nancy moved to Twin Falls.

Nancy adjusted to the challenges of the last 23 years by exploring new passions. She volunteered briefly at Bickel Elementary School reading with children, took up knitting and working jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She studied Russian History for several years at CSI, dabbled in rug hooking and even participated in Rim 2 Rim and Fit1 walking events.

Working at Sav-Mor Drug was a most fulfilling and joyful time for Nancy. She loved getting to know the customers and help with ordering gift items and jewelry.

Her true loves were spending time with her beloved son Christopher and reading nonfiction books. Her desire to learn never ceased.

Nancy is survived by her son Christopher White of Murray, Utah, brothers Scott Nelson of Eagle, ID, David Nelson of Twin Falls, ID and Andy Nelson of Rio Rancho, NM. Sisters Sherie Tanner and Mary Kay Henson of Twin Falls, ID.

Nancy's family is grateful for her neighbors at Lynwood Manor and the many friendships she developed over the years as a patron of the TF Public Library. We appreciate the gestures of kindness shown to her by those she encountered.
