Navarre L. Smith

Navarre L. Smith, 93 of Buhl, Idaho passed away at Bridgeview Estates on Friday, September 18, 2026, of natural causes.

Navarre or Smittie, as he was known in earlier years, was born in Idaho Falls to Eugene Leon Smith and Jane Leatham Smith on July 16, 1933. His years growing up were spent between Rexburg and the Orgon Coast, finally settling in Rexburg.

Navarre joined the Navy in 1952. After boot camp he became a Seabee in the Navy, where he learned about heavy equipment and road building. After his discharge he worked for several road construction companies with the last two being Winn Construction in Buhl and H&K in Idaho Falls. While working at the Idaho Falls job he won the Beautify America award.

When he was working for Winn Construction, he met Patricia Collings and her six-year-old daughter, Kellie, and decided he liked the package deal. At their wedding, he presented Kellie with a ring too. The family increased with another daughter, Marlynn Smith Lamprecht, grandson Justin, his wife Mariane and great-grandson Oliver.

When Navarre retired, he spent his time buying and selling antiques, building cabinets and popular leaning outhouses, watching car races, and racing snowmobiles.

Navarre was proceeded in death by his beloved daughter, Kellie, his brother Kenneth, his mother Jane and his father Eugene.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 9, 2026 at Wilks Funeral Home2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho. Interment will take place at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 9, 2026 in the Snake River Canyon National Cemetery in Buhl, Idaho.
