Ned Gordon Traughber, 85, passed away on November 19, 2025.
Ned was born on June 9, 1940, to Clifford Bell Traughber and Ivy Goodwin. He was the third child in the family. His sister, Delores, was the oldest, then his brother Clifford Beryl. Six years later he got a baby brother. Ned couldn’t remember asking for a baby brother.
He grew up with his sister and brothers on a farm on West Chubbuck Road. He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1958. In 1959, he joined the National Gard. In 1961, Ned took a leave from the National Guard and went on a mission to the European Mission from 1961-1963 serving near Frankfurt, Germany.
On his return from Germany, Ned enrolled in vo-tech in auto mechanics. He worked as a mechanic for a time, then he went back to school and got a degree in Business Administration. About the same time, he applied for a job at the Railroad. He was hired and worked there for 36 years.
He met and married Maxine Martin in 1965. In June 1967, Maxine gave birth to Valorie. Then, in 1971, they adopted Stephen. In January 1080, Ned and Maxine got a divorce.
In February 1980 Ned’s friend Bud invited Ned to go on a blind date for Valentine’s Day. That is when he met his second wife, Jeri Fullmer. Ned married Jeri on April 26, 1980. They lived all over Pocatello, Chubbuck, and Blackrock. Ned and Jeri did all kinds of things together. They ran a hay hauling business and Sunshine’s Poky Deli. Ned and Jeri have travelled all over the county.
Ned was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Emergency Preparedness. He was an excellent cook and baker. He loved hunting and camping. Ned and Jeri loved traveling together. Ned loved doing genealogy.
He is survived by his wife, Jery Traughber; daughter, Valorie Traughber; son, Stephen (Marina) Traughter; and grandchildren, Savannah Haddock, Gabriel Traughber, Bethany Traughber, Michael Traughber, and Elizabeth Traughber.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Ivy Traughber; sister, Delores Miles; brother, Beryl Traughber; and grandson, James Haddock.
A viewing will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, ID. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 pm at the Groveland Cemetery, Blackfoot, ID.
