Patricia L. Abbott

Patricia LaVell Abbott, 84, passed away on April 27, 2025.

Patsy LaVell Price was born November 4, 1940, to the parents of Roberta and Everett Price in Boise, Idaho. Her dad died 6 months before she was born, at the age of 21. She later legally changed her name to Patricia, and in her last year’s mostly known as Gidget.

Shortly after her birth, they moved to Lubbock, Texas. Her mom married Earl Abbott, and they had 2 boys, Gene and Bob Abbott and a daughter Susan. Later Roberta married Tex Smith and Mike joined the family, and a daughter Karen. In 1968 Roberta and Tex adopted Jon, which completed the family.

Gidget married Don Jackson in 1956. They had a son Robert Jackson on June 2, 1959. She divorced a year later. She married Gary Lane, and they had 3 sons. Twin boys Steve and Micheal born December 14,1961. Michael died shortly after birth. Chris on September 4, 1964. They later divorced.

Gidget met Rick Bruit, and on July 19, 1967, another son Paul was born. Paul passed away when he was 15 years old.

Gidget married William “Bill” Owens, and the last son Bryan completed the family on November 27, 1968. Bill later passed away.

Gidget’s other marriages include Gene Chin, Milton Forrest, Shannon and another gentleman who was in a wheelchair, who had a son named Kenny.

During her life she moved often and lived in Texas, California, Oregon, Arizona, and several places in Idaho. She worked as an LPN most of her life, until she retired. She loved knitting, crocheting, painting, rock collecting, gardening, and going to the beach.

The last love of her life was Doc who she met when she moved into Elk Creek apartments in Idaho Falls. He later moved into an assisted living, across the street. Gidget and Doc would continue to meet frequently until his passing in 2024.

Gidget’s health continued to decline, and she was moved into Elegant Residential living in Chubbuck, in November 2024, where she lived until her death, April 27, 2025. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at Elegant and Heritage for taking such good care of and loving Gidget.

Gidget is survived by 3 brothers Gene Abbott from CA, Bob Abbott from MN, and Jon & Terra Smith from Boise; sister Tim & Karen Shurtliff of Chubbuck; 4 sons Bob & Sherri Jackson Parker, Chris & Harriet Owens from FL, Steve & Kat and Bryan and Arlene from CA. There are many grandkids and great grandkids that she enjoyed crocheting and making little things for.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Susan, brother Mike, and her two sons Micheal and Paul.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Watersprings Church, 4250 S. 25th E. Idaho Falls, ID 83404. Family and friends will gather an hour prior to service. There will be a memorial motorcycle ride after the meal for anyone who wants to join in.
