With love and gratitude, we announce the passing of Patricia Marie Slayden, who peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on August 2, 2026, at the age of 77, surrounded by her family.
Patricia was born on September 24, 1948, in Pocatello, ID, to Duane and Beth Lish. She was the oldest of four children. From an early age, she developed a deep love for the Savior, her family, and serving those around her. She carried those values with her throughout her life.
She married Jack Slayden on May 27, 1967, and they were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Patricia was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in several organizations in the church, including as a Temple Worker in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Patricia loved to read and she was a member of the same book club for many years. She was rarely seen without a book nearby. She loved to play cards (especially pinochle) and games with her friends and family. She begrudgingly followed Jack around on crazy adventures to Canada, the Oregon coast, Arizona, and Island Park, as well as many cruises with friends and family.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Jill (Craig), Jennifer (David), Matthew (Jamey), and Mitchell (Marci); 8 grandchildren, her brother Craig Lish (Lisa), brothers-in-law, DeLynn Halford and Dennis Oliver, sister-in-law Carolyn Slayden as well as many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her parents, Duane and BethLish, infant brother Duane Lish Jr. and her two younger sisters, Mary Lou Halford and Janis Oliver.
The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers at Grace Assisted Living in Pocatello, ID, and Sunridge Assisted Living in West Jordan, UT, who provided such wonderful care and comfort during her final days. While Patricia’s passing leaves a profound emptiness in our hearts, we rejoice in her faithful life and find comfort in the Savior’s promise of resurrection. We look forward with hope to the day when our family will be reunited.
