Paul Matthew Durback, 70, passed away surrounded by family at home in Pocatello, ID on September 26,2025. He was born on September 11, 1955, to John Durback Jr. and June Gobert Durback, in Allentown, PA.
After graduating from high school in 1973, he fell in love and married his sweetheart, Lori Custer Durback, on April 28,1979. They celebrated 49 years of marriage in their time together. Paul loved the outdoors in every form. It didn't matter if he was grilling, building birdhouses, hunting, or his favorite, “drowning a worm” while fishing, he was outside. After visiting family in Pocatello, the pair fell in love with the mountains, and it inspired them to move there in 1993. Once they moved and finally settled, Paul resumed his career as a machinist, getting a job working at Premier Technology from 2007 until early 2025. His time in Pocatello was spent learning karate, playing his 12-string guitar, tending to his rose bushes, and camping with family. He was known to often act stoic, and never wanting another animal, yet would sneak the new critters treats around the corner every chance he got.
Paul is preceded in death by both his parents and daughter Cherish Hope. He is survived by his wife, Lori, siblings; John, Maria, and Michelle, children; Paul Mathew II, Daniel Thomas, and Emily Faith, as well as his 7 grandchildren, and 3 grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
Paul’s service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Wilks Funeral Home.
