Peggy Jo Potter

January 8, 1944 — July 27, 2025

Chubbuck

With heartfelt sorrow and love, we announce the passing of Peggy Jo Lowe Potter - a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted genealogist. Peggy transitioned from this life leaving a legacy that will ripple through generations.

Peggy Jo Lowe Potter passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, July 27, 2025, in Chubbuck, Idaho, where she had recently been living with her daughter. After a short time under hospice care, her passing did not increase her pain and suffering; her family is grateful Peggy passed peacefully and are striving to see this as a tender mercy.

Born to the loving Paul and Carma Cordon Lowe, Peggy was the fourth of eight children. She grew up in Blue Ash, Ohio, and attended Sycamore High School, where she was active in the drill team and proudly served as a captain. After high school, she became a beautician and found joy in her work, but it was in genealogical research that she discovered her life's passion-tracing family lines and honoring her ancestors. As a young single woman, Peggy lived for a time in Salt Lake City, Utah. She met her husband, Adelbert "Dell", after her father sat next to him at church and suggested that he ask out that young lady with the upswept blonde hair. They were married on September 7, 1969. After she married Dell, they lived in several different places, including Alabama, West Virginia, New York State, Ohio, Kentucky, and Utah.

She was an avid quilter and spent many hours quilting treasured gifts for family and friends. She also was a member of bowling leagues in NY and OH, and formed life-long friendships there.

She served as the director of the Family History Center in Paducah, KY and served at the Family History Center in Orem, Utah for many years. Her love for family history continued throughout her life, and she was known for her dedication and enthusiasm in preserving her family's legacy.

Peggy will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to family, and her enduring testimony of eternal families. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the generations she so lovingly documented.

Peggy is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Paul and Carma Cordon Lowe, and her older sister, Sylvia Lowe Farris. She is survived by her husband Adelbert and their two children James Carr Potter and April Jo (Everardo) Pérez; grandchildren, María Pérez , Luz "Luci" Pérez, Gabriela "Gabe" Pérez, José "Moroni" Pérez, Nefi Pérez and Esmeralda "Esme" Pérez; siblings Deon (Dave) Ballard, Douglas (Magdalena) Lowe, Dennis (Kathleen) Lowe, Steve (Pat) Lowe, Sidney Ellingford, and Susan (Bill) Silva, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends by whom she will be greatly missed.
