Penny Ellen Peck

Penny Peck, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on August 27, 2026. She was born on December 19, 1946, in Nevada City, California, to Dorothy Ellen LeCheminant and Denver Bilderback Austin.

Penny was raised in Pocatello, Idaho, where she attended local schools and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1964. As a young woman, while working as a carhop at A&W Root Beer, she met Glen Peck. The two fell in love and were married in 1964, beginning a life together centered on family, faith, hard work, and devotion to one another.

Penny and Glen were blessed with five children: Bret Peck of Kennewick, Washington, and his wife, Pam; Greg Peck of Tucson, Arizona, and his wife, Carmen; Cass Peck of Salt Lake City, Utah; Jill Wolff of Springbrook, Queensland, Australia; and Chad Peck of West Jordan, Utah, and his wife, Lynisa.

Family was at the heart of Penny's life. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took great joy in watching her family grow. She leaves a remarkable legacy through her five children, 21 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Penny worked in a variety of jobs and spent many years as a checker at local grocery stores, where her friendliness and ability to connect with people were evident to those she met. At home, she enjoyed sewing and cooking and used her talents to care for and serve the people she loved. Penny was exceptionally bright and possessed a wonderful curiosity about the world around her. Her grandchildren especially loved watching Jeopardy! with Grandma Penny and marveling at just how many answers she knew. She also enjoyed word games, puzzles, reading and anything that gave her an opportunity to put her sharp mind to work.

Penny and Glen were faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years, Penny served in many Church callings and found particular joy in visiting, serving, and ministering to the sisters of the Relief Society. Her faith in Jesus Christ was expressed quietly and consistently through the way she cared for others and through her devotion to her family.

Penny will be remembered for her intelligence and talents, her strong work ethic, her faith, and especially for the love she had for her family. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was simply Grandma Penny—a woman whose life, stories, talents, humor, and love will continue to be remembered and shared for generations.

She is survived by all five of her children and their families, four sisters, one brother, 21 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glen; her parents, Dorothy and Denver; and her younger sister, Roxanne.

Penny's life was richly blessed by the family she loved so deeply, and her influence will continue to live on in each of them. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
