Rachel Jorgensen Hobbs passed away peacefully March 3, 2018 at age 94. Rachel was born in Grouse Creek, UT on December 5, 1923 to Quin & Viola Jorgensen. She was the fourth child of her siblings; Carol, Zatel, Delmer, and Ilene.
Rachel fell in love with William Gerald Kinney. They had four children; Bob, LaRae, Shirley, & Carol. Rachel's husband passed away unexpectedly at a young age. Rachel was a strong woman who always dealt with challenges with grace and fortitude.
Rachel married Lloyd Hobbs and had another child, Rochelle.
During her life she worked as a grade school cook, then later worked as the Executive Chef at the Bannock Hotel. She was also a skilled seamstress and worked as an upholsterer while living in California.
Rachel had a zest for life. Some of her favorite pastimes include camping, fishing, & traveling. She loved to cook, sew, craft and wood-working. She inspired many of her grandchildren to love these same pastimes.
Rachel was a faithful member of the LDS church and enjoyed serving in numerous callings.
Rachel's family would like to thank the loving staff of Homestead Assisted Living & Carriage Cove in Rexburg. They provided excellent care of Rachel in her last years.
Rachel is preceded in death by Quin & Viola Jorgensen (parents), Carol, Zatel, Delmer, & Ilene (siblings) Baby Carol (child), Lanore Kay Kinney (daughter-in-law), William Gerald Kinney (husband) Lloyd Hobbs (husband). Rachel is survived by Robert Kinney, LaRae (Mike) Stallsmith, Shirley (Ken) Ridenour, Rochelle Hobbs, & 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, & 14 great great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 12:00pm at the Lyman LDS Church, 1952 West 6000 South, Rexburg. A family gathering will begin at 11 am at the same location. A graveside service will follow at Wilford Cemetery. 2540 E 225 N St. Anthony, ID.
