Rayann Wendling

February 23, 1951 — January 23, 2026

Pocatello

Rayann Wendling, 74, passed away on January 23, 2026.

Rayann Wendling was born in Pocatello, Idaho, on February 23, 1951, to Raymond and Asenath (Gill) Wendling. Although her family moved several times during her childhood, Rayann's fondest memories were of living on a farm. Her father had a "green thumb" and taught her how to grow their own food—a skill she passed on to her son, David. David always shared his harvest with her; his tomatoes were her favorite.

Rayann graduated from Pocatello High School in 1969. While in high school, Rayann played the flute in the school band.

Rayann dedicated most of her career to Farmers Insurance in Pocatello, Idaho. She worked as an underwriter and coder from 1984 until her retirement in 2016. Her coworkers appreciated her intelligence and extensive knowledge, describing her as wonderful, thoughtful, and kind. She was always willing to help out and even tutored a coworker in an ISU Algebra class. Her hard work at Farmers enabled her to independently raise her four children, and they remember the sacrifices she made to provide for them.

Rayann was a devoted member of the LDS church and previously sang in the local church choir. Due to health issues, Rayann's attendance became sporadic after her retirement. However, she still listened to the scriptures. Fortunately, her daughter Darcie, granddaughter Jacie, and grandson Kenny lived with her and provided daily care.

Rayann was an avid reader of nearly every genre, with young adult novels being her favorite (as well as the occasional romance novel). She always kept a book with her for breaks and lunches at work. When her sight declined, her daughter, Asenath, ensured she had audiobooks to keep her entertained. Rayann also enjoyed young adult series books and movies, particularly the Harry Potter series, which she watched many times, and The Hunger Games. In addition to watching various movies, she loved playing games on her tablet, with Merge Dragons being a favorite. She recently began writing and had started a book.

Rayann is survived by her four children, all of Pocatello, Idaho: David (Carrie) Page, Lena Page, Darcie Page, and Asenath Tubbs. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Mikaela, Brendan, Abigail, Samuel, Brandon, Koren, Jesse, Jacie, Kenny, Thanesa, Sage, and Asher; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Asenath Anna (Gill) Wendling.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 30, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1440 Lakeview Drive, Pocatello, ID 83201.
