It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Reed Worley, 66, on August 22, 2026.
He was born in Pocatello, Idaho to Jack and Elaine Worley. He was the third child, with three sisters and two brothers: Angela, Arlene, Diane, Darren and John.
Reed served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New York, NY.
Reed and Elba were married on August 12, 1983, in the Salt Lake City temple. They were married for 43 years and blessed with four children: David (Barbara), Alan, Andrew, and Melissa, and five grandchildren: Isaac, Bethany, Hannah, Jeremiah, and Miriam.
Reed was a Scout Master for many years. He mentored and provided exceptional outdoor skills that created wonderful experiences and memories for the scouts.
At every hospital location he worked at, he was a loyal and hard-working employee. He retired from Portneuf Medical Center in 2025.
Reed loved the outdoors (biking, camping and hiking). He was an avid outdoorsman, and he enjoyed spending time and teaching his life skills to his children and grandchildren.
In this time of loss, we take comfort in knowing that the love, kindness, and generosity that defined him will not be soon forgotten. He strived daily to live in accordance with his belief that being a good person is what matters most, and that goodness shone through in both his personal life and professional life.
He will be missed not just as a brother, husband, father, and grandfather, but also as a dear friend. We celebrate not just a life well lived, but also his return to nature, the place where he was always most comfortable and at peace.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jack and Elaine Worley.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3444 Hawthorne Road, Pocatello, ID. A viewing will be held prior, beginning at 9:30 am. Burial will follow the service at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S 5th Avenue, Pocatello, ID.
