Richard Edwin Lish

My beloved husband, Richard Edwin Lish, 73, passed away on June 13, 2026, in my arms and with his sisters at his bedside.

Richard was born on February 7, 1953, in Pocatello, Idaho. He graduated from Marsh Valley High School and attended Idaho State University for several years. He worked at Lamb Weston and traveled for a while before working at Simplot for 35 years.

Richard was a long-time bachelor, but his life would forever change for the better when he met Lisa at bingo. He would always say that was the best prize ever. They eloped in Astoria on July 30, 2021, under the Astoria-Wegler bridge, which he always wanted to see.

Richard loved to play games, especially pinochle. He also loved to participate in the Senior Games every summer. He participated for years and his goal was to earn 50 medals. He tried to do as many events as he could each year. Richard and Lisa would walk through the neighborhood during a time Lisa had difficult circumstances with mobility and would fall easily, so she was using a walker. He was so proud of her when they were able to complete a whole route of a mile or two around the university. She was so grateful for his loving support, since his failing health made things difficult for him as well. With his guidance, Lisa was able to win a gold medal in the Senior Games. This is a testament of his dedication and belief in her to help her progress from being unable to walk to physically care for her and nurture her until she regained her mobility.

Richard was also a lifetime fan of the Atlanta Braves. He once enjoyed a very special trip to visit the old stadium with his mother, brothers and sisters.

He loved trains and had the opportunity to take one to San Francisco. He shared rides with his beloved wife, Lisa, on their trip to Oregon, one going into Redwood National Park in California and one along the Oregon coast. They enjoyed their travels together, visiting a Braves game in the new stadium, which was a once in a lifetime opportunity for him. The little time they had together was filled with special family events with his loving sisters who lived close by, notably birthday parties, dinners, Valentine’s Day, and especially Christmas, celebrated with the 12 days of Christmas and so many gifts. He spoiled his wife, and wanted to give her everything, including a house to make sure she always had a home.

Richard is survived by the love of his life, Lisa; his sisters, Joyce Noreen, Arlene (LaMar) Leffler, and Carol Willford; and brother, Gordon (Karen) Lish, and many nieces and nephews which he loved so much.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Bessie Lish; his brother, George; and his sister Sarah Ruth Lish.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 12:30 PM at Wilks Colonial Chapel, 2005 South 4th Avenue, Pocatello, ID 83201, with a viewing at 11:00 AM prior to services. Burial will follow at the Inkom Cemetery, 3303 North Rapid Creek Road, Inkom, ID 83245, at 2:00 PM.
