RJ William Evans, 84, passed away on October 5, 2024.
RJ began life in Soda Springs, Idaho, on July 10, 1940 and passed from this world surrounded by loved ones in Pocatello, Idaho on October 5, 2024.
RJ spent his 84 years in pursuit of happiness for his family as well as himself.
August of 1959, RJ married the new girl in town, Ann Sibbett. Their 65-year union brought many blessings. Their most valued is their close-knit family: Teresa (Ricky) Jackman, Penney (Mitch) Fisher, Bryan Wade (LoriKay) Evans and Karl Rulon (Rebecca Kay) Evans. Their children’s unions have compounded their joy with 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. They range from Nebraska to Utah to Virginia to California to Washington state, to serving our country overseas. He also enjoyed his cherished niece, SueAnn Lewis Turner.
RJ supported his growing family as a journeyman brick mason before joining Ann in owning and operating several Idaho businesses that served the Pocatello area for 42 years. Together they had a fabric store (Fabric Land) and porcelain doll shop (Create a Doll). Doll making required new skills for RJ: including pouring porcelain and stuffing reproduction leather doll bodies. He got a good chuckle telling folks that he “made babies” for a living. Among his varied hobbies were fishing, hunting and gardening.
RJ was preceded in death by a grandson, Terrick Delyn Jackman; his father, Rulon Joseph Evans; sister,
Nannette Lewis; mother, Duluth Childs; and nephew Lynn Joseph Lewis.
