Heaven gained a beloved son on June 10, 2026, when Robert “RC” McCann, 51, walked into his Savior's arms.
RC was born to “Bob” and Kay McCann on August 14, 1974. RC was an avid golfer, he loved to play but missed his golfing partner, his dad Bob, and was limited by his own health the last several years. He enjoyed teaching his daughters how to play. We enjoyed watching him grump when they would hit a better shot! But he was also proud of them.
RC met his wife Julie in kindergarten, by the time they were 10 & 11 years old, they were sweethearts, much to her mother’s concern. RC and Julie were married February 18, 1994. They laughed often and loved each other more and more as the years progressed, facing life’s challenges together. They came out of each closer to one another and made better by the struggles.
Together they welcomed three daughters, Karen, Catherine, and Sarah McCann. And later, a bonus daughter, Tia Wellard of Chubbuck, ID. RC loved his children fiercely and deeply. He was always aware and concerned about his children, hoping and praying they were well. His greatest wish is that they are happy and that they do all they can to succeed in their life goals. He faced medical issues for the last ten years of his life but always pushed through to provide for his family.
RC also enjoyed fishing with his family and friends. Often having contests of “who could catch the most or biggest fish, and was generally a good sport when he lost. He made those fishing competitions with the girls, biggest fish, largest stick fish, which daughter could he bribe to get into the cold water to get HIM unstuck since he didn't want to lose that lure. RC was looking forward to making fishing memories with his grandson Axel.
RC worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 27 years. He enjoyed the work he did and was proud of his service years with them.
He loved to tease and pull pranks with his co-workers. He felt it was his responsibility that if a rumor wasn’t heard by noon, he would start one! Then stand back and see not only how far that rumor spread but how many of his co-workers he could work up. Small wonder that he was called “Maytag” since he too was an agitator.
RC joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints April 19, 2026, and was looking forward to being sealed to Julie, his wife of 32 years, for time and all eternity. He would joke with Julie, “I want to tease you for eternity!” Something she also looks forward to. RC and Julie were not just spouses, they were each other’s best friend, confidant, and helpmeet. 32 years together went in an instant! Let’s hope the time flies as quickly until we are reunited again!
RC passed suddenly, his wife and family will miss him deeply.
RC is survived by his wife Julie of Pocatello, ID; daughters Karen (Kaydon) McCann of Pocatello, ID; Catherine “Cathy” (Naithen), and grandson Axel of Montpelier, ID; Sarah McCann of Pocatello, ID; and brother Scott McCann of Pocatello, ID.
RC will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Most especially by Julie- This is not goodbye love, just see you later.
