Ronnie Eugene Pence passed away at the age of 75 from complications of cancer. Ron was born February 26, 1948, in Pocatello, Idaho to Elwood and Beulah Pence and was the younger of two children.
Ron went to Hawthorne Junior High and Pocatello High School, graduating in 1966. Ron met and married Linda Fernandez and had two children, Cory and Hollie. They were later divorced.
Ron was drafted into the Army and served with the 3rd Armored Cavalry as a tanker from March 1968 to March 1970 on active duty and then four years in the reserves. After returning from the Army, Ron worked at Pacific Fruit Express and then the Union Pacific Railroad as a carman, retiring after 33 years.
Ron married Susan McCabe on October 8, 1979, and they were happily married for 37 years. Ron was a good father to Susan's two children, Darren and Eric.
Ron and Susan enjoyed spending time in Island Park and made many trips to Yellowstone Park in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. Ron also liked to travel on cruise ships, visiting the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, and the Panama Canal. Since retiring, Ron and Susan enjoyed being outdoors in Island Park in the summer and being snowbirds in Yuma, AZ and Bullhead, AZ in the winter.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, and older brother, Harold, as well as his wife, Susan. Ron is survived by four children, Cory (Kim) Pence of Highland, Utah (Alex, Brooke, Austin, and Brandon); Hollie Pitre (Brent Harland) of Pocatello (Obin Liam); Darren (Karen) McCabe of Riverton, Utah (Kelsi, Michael (Taryn and Thomas), Caitlyn (James Ludlow and Savannah and William), Megan, Laura (Austin Johnson); and Eric (Lory) McCabe of Pocatello (JaVon, Danielle (Mikey Thielen), Kathryn, and Ellysa.
Ron will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A graveside service will be held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 S. 5th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho at 2 PM on Friday, January 5, 2024. A celebration of Life and a light lunch will be held immediately after at the LDS Meetinghouse located at 8200 West Portneuf Road, Pocatello, Idaho 83204.
