Russell Winter

June 26, 1961 — May 23, 2024

Russell Lane Winter was born on June 26, 1961, to Robert and Joan Winter in Pocatello, Idaho. He passed away on May 23, 2024, in Roy, Utah. Russ was the youngest of three children, the baby brother to Deane and Rob.

Russ attended schools in Pocatello, Idaho. After graduating from high school, he married Sharlene Skinner. From this union were born four children: Nathan, Ryan, Brandon, and Alissa.

Russ joined the Navy right out of high school. While in the military, Russ earned his bachelor’s degree in physics and a minor in math. Russ was a very intelligent man.

On September 1, 1995, Russ married the love of his life, Sandra Holverson McCormack. On September 3, 1996, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. From this union Russ gained a son, Thomas, a daughter, Elizabeth, and a sister-in-law, Debbie Cates. 

Russ was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was not a religion; it was a lifestyle. Russ loved to listen to church music and watch Star Trek. He was a true Treky.

Russ is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Joan, and his brother, Rob.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 2 pm at the LDS church (Stake Building), 930 E. Alameda Road, Pocatello, Idaho, with a viewing for one hour prior to the services.

Burial will take place on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 11 am at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Blackfoot, Idaho.
