With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Ruth Linda Kelsey on Sunday, October 12th, 2025, at Elegant Living in Pocatello, Idaho. She was 78 years old.
Born on September 3rd, 1947, in a home full of laughter and love, Linda was one of seven children born to Ephraim Vivian Cutler and Juanita Lois Duncan. Ephraim and Juanita first had Virgil, Lois, Anita, Alvin, Gerald nickname ‘pug’ and then ten years later came Linda who was very spoiled by her older siblings. Three years later came Peggy to complete the seven. Growing up in a bustling, close-knit family, on the Reservation of Fort Hall, Idaho. Linda learned early the values of compassion, hard work, and unwavering faith—values she carried with her every day of her life.
Linda’s journey through life was filled with both challenges and beautiful chapters. She first married Larry Dean Spangler on January of 1965, and together they brought into the world four beloved children: Larry Spangler Jr. (Nanette Spangler), Tamera Christensen (Chet Christensen), Tina Hall (Jason Hall) and Trent Spangler (Caroly Spangler). Though life took her in a different direction, Linda’s deep love for her children never wavered.
In time, Linda found her soulmate and true partner in Verlon Eugene Kelsey, lovingly known as Gene. They married on June 4th, 1976 and sealed in the Mesa, Arizona Temple on April 2010. Together, they built a warm and joyful life in Mesa, Arizona, where their love for each other and the Lord was the cornerstone of their home. After Gene’s passing, Linda moved to Pocatello, Idaho, to be near her children, finding peace and purpose in the presence of her growing family.
Linda had a quiet strength and a deep kindness that left an imprint on every soul she met. At a young age she was a tremendous help on the farm. She loved baking for those she cared about, found joy in the company of her beloved cats, and had an infectious excitement for a good game of bingo. Linda enjoyed fishing and camping. She found comfort in doing crafts. Not only did she love wearing jewelry but found great value in making jewelry. But above all, Linda’s greatest joy was her unshakable faith and devotion to the Lord. Her Bible was never far from reach, and her prayers were the kind that wrapped you in comfort and love.
She lived with grace, gave generously, and loved fiercely. Her legacy lives on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, extended family, and all who were blessed to know her. Heaven has surely gained a beautiful soul.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Friday, October 17th at Wilks Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. in Chubbuck, Idaho, where friends and family will gather to honor a woman whose spirit will never be forgotten.
Ruth Linda Kelsey’s love, laughter, and legacy will forever live in our hearts. Until we meet again, may she rest in the everlasting peace of the Lord she loved so dearly.
