Seth Ira Neibaur, 89, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at his home surrounded by loving family. Seth was born in Newdale, Idaho to Ira Alonso Neibaur and Bertha Cleo Jacobs Neibaur. He was raised in Newdale but also spent a lot of time at Green Canyon with his cousins. He attended grade school in Newdale, high school in Sugar City, and Idaho State College in Pocatello. He transferred to the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque where he participated in the Navy ROTC, V-12. On July 1, 1944 toward the end of World War II, he was awarded his commission in the U.S. Navy, and was honorably discharged on June 17, 1959. He married Verba Marie Davenport in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple on August 27, 1947. During his first year of marriage, he taught at O. E. Bell junior high in Idaho Falls, but then moved to American Falls and began farming. Years later, he moved his family to Brigham City, Utah, and worked one winter at the Thiokol missile plant near Tremonton, then returned to the farm the next spring. Later, he served three terms as Power County Commissioner. After retiring from farming, he was employed as the weed control supervisor for Power County. Seth was a quiet, hardworking man. He had a variety of interests. He had a pilots license, and enjoyed flying, exploring southern Idaho, camping, scuba diving, and sailing- to name a few. Seth was an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his wife, Verba Marie Neibaur; a sister, Hilda Bertha Murri, of Laverkin, Utah; four sons, Daren Seth (Myra), Paul Ira (Jeannie), Kevin William (Elaine), who all live near Pocatello, Michael Joseph (Lisa) of Salt Lake City; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Alonzo Neibaur and Bertha Cleo Jacobs Neibaur; a brother, Newel Neibaur; and a sister, Phyllis Harris. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, January 30, 2016 , at the LDS Bannock Creek ward church, 4010 Hawthorne Rd, corner of Quinn and Hawthorne, Pocatello, Idaho 83202. Family will receive friends from 6-7:30 pm Friday, January 29 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave., Pocatello Idaho 83201, 208-233-1500 and for one hour prior to the services at the church.
