Sharon Miller

November 8, 1945 — July 5, 2024

Inkom

Sharon Lee Miller, 78, of Inkom went home to the Lord July 5, 2024 following an extended illness. She was born November 8, 1945 at North Island Naval Base, San Diego, CA to Jim and Clara Matthews. Following her father’s discharge, the family moved for a short time to Jim’s home in Florida. The family moved to Pocatello (Clara’s home area) in the late 40s when she was 3 or 4.

Sharon graduated from Pocatello High School in 1964 and went to work in the area. She eventually made it into banking and then credit unions. She spent most of her career in credit union management in the local area. She retired in 2003 and spent a relaxing couple of years before her husband’s retirement. During her career she was active in several professional credit and credit union related organizations at the local, state and national level. She held various offices over the years in the organizations.

Sharon married the boy down the street and the love of her life, Wayne Miller in 1964. They had one son, Kevin Lee in 1966. Together they enjoyed camping with friends, traveling and taking one of their street rods out for a cruise. They enjoyed an active and adventurous retirement before health issues affected them both.

She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Pocatello. She was always active in the church and served from Sunday School Teacher to Treasurer over the years. She enjoyed volunteering with the church’s food pantry or the food bank. Later in life Wayne joined her in the church much to her delight. Together they enjoyed the fellowship of the church and made themselves available whenever possible.

Sharon enjoyed bowling with the girls early on and then golfing and golf trips with the girls later on. She also enjoyed cruises with the girls. She enjoyed crocheting and she took pride in her home, keeping it immaculate. Her activities with her church groups and helping with the church books also brought her joy. She truly enjoyed the Bible study she held every week for her, “little old ladies.” Many of the members had been her mother’s friends.

Sharon is survived by her son, Kevin; one grandson, Daniel James (Portland); brothers and sisters in Law, Larry and MarJean Miller (Pocatello), Dean and Nancy Miller (Meridian), and Karen Miller (Pocatello); nieces, Julie Hichcock (Greg) and Shelley Miller; nephew, Kenneth (Stacy); and several cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her aunts and uncles.
