With profound love and cherished memories, we say goodbye for now to our radiant mother, Shirley 'Ann' Sullivan, who peacefully transitioned to eternal life on February 9, 2026, at the age of 75, surrounded by her loving family in Pocatello, Idaho.
Born on November 10, 1950, in Portland, Oregon, to Clara May Sullivan and Floyd Robert Sullivan, Shirley was blessed as the firstborn of five children, with three sisters and one brother.
Her formative years unfolded in Portland, Oregon, where she attended Whitaker Elementary School, Beaumont Middle School, and proudly graduated from Madison High School in 1969. It was during her high school years that she met the love of her life, David William Steele, whom she married in March 1970. This union brought forth two precious daughters, Melissa and April. Though their marriage later came to a close, Shirley's love and devotion to her family only grew stronger.
In 2011, she made the decision to relocate from Oregon to Idaho, driven by the desire to be closer to her daughters, Shawna and April, and her loving family. Shirley's existence was deeply enriched by every moment she spent with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the center of her universe. Her family was the recipient of her boundless love, often showering them with thoughtful, homemade gifts.
To know Shirley was to experience her unwavering love and affection. Being a mother and grandmother was not just a role, but her greatest achievement.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Sullivan; mother, Clara Antuar; daughter, Shawna McGuire; and grandson, Kyle Kirchem.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her daughters, Melissa Steele of Portland, Oregon, and April Steele Chamberlain (Steve) of Pocatello, Idaho; siblings Sally Roberton (Dale) of Salem, Oregon, Jan Sullivan of Portland, Oregon, Tim Sullivan of Yachats, Oregon, and Jill Bynum of Woodburn, Oregon. Her grandchildren, who embody the love and spirit of their grandmother, include Ashley Steele of Oregon City, Oregon; Tasha Kirchem of Oregon City, Oregon; Logan Hall (Briana) of Pocatello, Idaho; Corbin Hall (Emily) of Eagle River, Wisconsin; Arielle Dodds (David) of Oregon City, Oregon; and Halle Hatcher of Pocatello, Idaho.
The joy and laughter she shared with her great-grandchildren, Conrad, Keaghan, Avigail, Clover, and Clay, will forever be treasured. She is also survived by nieces and nephews who are very dear to her.
The family would like to thank Brookedale Pocatello and Symbi Hospice for their loving care given to our beautiful Mama, a testament to the impact she had on those around her.
A celebration of life will be held in Oregon; the date will be announced at a later time, where loved ones will gather to honor her memory.
We will love you forever, our sweetest Mama, until we meet again. Love, your girls.
