Susan Elizabeth Ewalt

Susan Elizabeth Ewalt, "Gramma Sue," gained her angel wings on Thursday, September 17th, 2026, with her two youngest daughters by her side in Burley, Idaho, at the age of 76.

Mom was her parents' lucky charm when she was born March 17, 1950 (St. Patrick's Day) in Seward, Alaska. She was one of 6 children.

Mom graduated from Twin Falls High School and held many jobs over the years to provide for her 5 children. From a school lunch lady, cooking at her mom's business, "Independent Living Center", caregiving for adults with disabilities, and more. There were years where she worked multiple jobs to make sure her kids were never left without.

Mom rarely took time for herself, but every year she would take two weeks of PTO in December to spend her days in the kitchen putting together Christmas goodies for her family, friends, co-workers, Dr offices, grocery store, neighbors, and bank. Baking and sharing goodies made with love is what fed her soul. She was a caregiver by trade and baker by choice.

When Mom was promoted to "Gramma Sue," her shopping shifted to a stockpile of gifts for all the holidays and birthdays, and her family room turned into a giant playroom of movies, games, and toys. She always had something new and fun to do with the kids. Many memories, laughter, and fun were had at Grammas; and you could bet she wasn't going to let you win a game.

During holidays, she busted out the blue and white fine china and always made a beautiful, delicious spread for the family and looked forward to time spent with everyone. Her house was straight out of a Hallmark catalog, and her yard usually had a snow sculpture that you only see in the movies. We always joked that the Missionaries came for the fun, laughter, and food because she made our house a home away from home for them.

She was incredibly artistic and creative and often made her own classroom decorations and homemade games and crafts for her clients at work.

Life was hard for Mama, but she never gave up and gave it her all with love and care. She loved Jesus and her family more than anything.

Mom is survived by 3 brothers; Tom Wengert, Mike Wengert, and Gary Wengert; her 5 children; Heather Ewalt, Amber (Tyrel) Archer, Matt (Kacie) Buhler, Aaron (Christina) Keyes, and Dawn Lundstrom; 16 grandkids and 9 great-grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Helen Buhler and Norman Wengert, her sister; Barbara and Maggie; and a handful of loyal wagging tails waiting for her arrival at the pearly gates.

Our family wants to express our gratitude to the staff at Rosetta Assisted Living and her hospice team from Visions for loving and caring for our mom.

We will love you forever and like you for always; as long as we're living, our mama, you'll be.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 5th, 2026, at Wilks Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Rd, Twin Falls, Idaho. Interment will take place following the funeral in the Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls, Idaho.
