Ted Syverson passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, at the age of 80.
Ted was born on January 29, 1946, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Kathryn and Hubert Syverson. He was raised in Murtaugh, Idaho, where he graduated from Murtaugh High School in 1964. He went on to attend Idaho State University, where he completed a two-year auto mechanic program. It was during his time there that he met the love of his life, Kay.
Ted and Kay were married in 1968 and recently celebrated 58 wonderful years together. Their life was filled with love, partnership, and family. They welcomed two children, Brett in 1970 and Angie in 1974, who were the pride and joy of Ted’s life.
Ted dedicated 30 years of hard work and commitment to Idaho Power, where he worked from 1970 until his retirement in 2000. After retiring, he fully embraced the simple pleasures that brought him happiness-meeting friends for coffee, participating in his old car club, working on and admiring antique cars, and taking long drives in his truck.
Above all, Ted cherished time spent with his family. He became “Grandpa Ted” to two special boys, Everett and Briggs. He spent many hours babysitting, and watching soccer, football and basketball. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, whose steady presence and kind heart will be deeply missed.
Ted is survived by his beloved wife, Kay; his children, Brett and Angie; and his brother, Kendall.
He will be remembered for his warmth, dedication to family, and the quiet joy he found in life’s everyday moments.
