Pocatello

Vincent J. Scott Baker, 56, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away on December 10, 2025.

He was born on August 23, 1969, in Pocatello, Idaho.

Scott was a devoted father, husband, son, and friend whose life revolved around his family. He became a father at a young age when his son Michael was born. He later married Kerry Baker, and together they shared 25 years of marriage and raised two additional children, Vincent and Amanda. His children were his greatest joy, and he spent most of his time creating memories with them.

Early in life, Scott worked in construction and was involved in the construction of the Budweiser building just south of Idaho Falls. As his family grew, Scott and Kerry were always busy taking their children to friends’ homes, spending time together, and enjoying everyday moments.

Scott was known for his goofy and humorous personality. He loved entertaining his family and friends, watching TV, playing games, and making people laugh with his unique way of seeing the world. He often found faces in ordinary objects, a trait that brought endless amusement to those around him. Scott loved the outdoors and believed in seeing the good in people.

He was passionate about gardening and spent many years growing vegetables. He took pride in providing fresh, homegrown food for his daughter Amanda, who has PKU. When Amanda was born, Scott taught himself how to cook professionally so he could meet her dietary needs. He became highly skilled at cooking for people with food allergies and always took joy in preparing meals for others. His culinary career began at the Green Triangle Bar and Grill, where his wife Kerry encouraged him to pursue cooking professionally. Scott later worked at several restaurants throughout Pocatello and downtown, including Elmer’s and The Prospector, where he served as a kitchen manager and chef. He dedicated his professional life to the culinary arts, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who enjoyed his cooking.

Family remained Scott's greatest passion. He loved taking his children fishing, teaching them about hunting, plants, berries, and animals, and spending hours outdoors together. He especially cherished the time spent hunting with his son Vincent, building a lifelong bond.

In recent months, Scott found his greatest happiness in his granddaughter, Shardanay, whom he loved very much.

Though Scott has passed, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His laughter, kindness, and love will continue to shine through his family.
