Virgil Ray Burget

Virgil Ray Burget, 78, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026.

Born on January 27, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Virgil was the beloved child of Wayne Esau Burget and Evelyn Marie Dean Burget. Throughout his life, he was known for his leadership roles at work- “The Boss”, he had a larger-than-life personality and was unapologetically himself.

Virgil enjoyed a fulfilling career as Calciner chief and later became a Training Chief at FMC. He eventually went on to be a RAD tech at the INL. He took great pride in being an EMT and a Roco rescue instructor for confined space and high angle at FMC. Outside of work, he found joy in restoring older cars, hunting, fishing, and going to lunch with his car “croonies”. Above all, he cherished time spent with family and friends.

Virgil is survived by his son David (Gail) Burget, daughter Carina Stearns; his grandchildren- Dakotah (Brynn) Stearns, Dillan (Taiana) Stearns, Kolby Pavlock, Shelbi Burget, Kamille (Koby) Zaharias, Macie (Travis Burgess) Stearns and Kaylee Burget; and great granddaughter Carter Stearns (Dillan Stearns). He was preceded in death by both of his parents and two older brothers, Toby and Dee.

Virgil will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 11:00am -1:00pm at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road Chubbuck, ID 83202. Following the Celebration of Life at Wilks Funeral Home, family and friends are invited to gather at the home of David and Gail Burget to continue celebrating Virgil's life, share stories, and enjoy one another's company.
