William “Bill” Ping
Bill was born on May 2, 1953, in Madera, California. He was the youngest of 3 children to James and Kathryn (McAnally) Ping. On November 3rd Bill gained his angel wings after having a massive heart attack.
Bill grew up in Santa Rosa, California where he graduated from Santa Rosa High. He moved to Idaho in 1990 where he spent the remainder of his life.
His family and friends meant everything to him. Being a Dad/Pappa was his greatest accomplishment. In 1983 he became a dad when his daughter Jessica was born to his wife at the time Bengie Bowen (Hansen). In 1998 his son Adam was born to his wife at the time Charlene Rogers (Kynaston).
In 2002 Bill married Ramona Koger. From this union he gained three bonus kids: Kris, Josh and Amber. Bill and Ramona had just celebrated 20 years of marriage in June of this year.
In 1991 he started with U.P. Fruit Express. When they closed the shop in Pocatello he transferred to North Platte, Nebraska. Ramona joined him and they lived there for 18 months before being offered a transfer to Union Pacific in Pocatello. He worked there until he retired in June of 2018.
Bill loved to golf and especially golfing with his kids and grand-kids, he had a club in their hands as soon as they could walk.
Bill was a kind, caring, loving person with a heart of gold. He was always working on projects around the house and was willing to help anyone who needed the help especially the kids and grand-kids. He was the voice of reason and kept us all grounded.
Bill loved You Tube and at times I swear it was his best friend. He taught himself many different things by watching videos. He loved wood working, teaching his dog to drink beer and mow the lawn, remodeling, Sudoku, art puzzles, painting, yelling at the neighbor (and the rest of us!) to get off the phone. He hated new technology unless it was his bestie YouTube or his jigsaw puzzles on Ramona’s phone! He was always inventing new ways to do projects and built many of his own tools. Above all else he loved his family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his momma, dad, older brother Jimmy, father-in-law Lawrence, grandson Josh, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Bill is survived by his wife Ramona; sister Kathy (Doug) Ping Rogers; mother-in-law Beryline Koger; brother-in-law Keith Koger; his children Jessica, Kris, Josh, Amber and Adam; grandchildren Makayla, Tishauna, Kolton, Kymber, Jessie, Taylor, Brandi, Ricky, and Kaiden; great-grandchildren Dakota, Ivie, Triston, Tayson, Peyton and William. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and amazing friends.
We will be having a celebration of life sometime this spring and will let everyone know the details at a later date.
Evidence of a life well-lived is found in those who love you.
