Obituary

William Daniel Wirsching, 66, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

Dan was born on November 30, 1959, to Clarence and Beverly Wirsching. To his parents, he was Danny. To many others, he was Dan. But to the people who loved him most, he became known by his favorite name of all—Papa.

Dan was born and raised in Twin Falls, Idaho, alongside his two brothers, Steve and Dean. Growing up, the three brothers shared countless adventures and made memories that would stay with them throughout their lives. Dan attended school in Twin Falls and enjoyed being involved in many activities. As a young boy, he was a Boy Scout, played sports, and spent time learning woodworking and other skills alongside his dad.

Dan met the love of his life, Maida L. Wirsching (Collins), and the two were married on July 12, 1996. When Dan married Maida, he didn't just gain a wife—he gained a family. He welcomed her four children, Whitney, Vicki, Jayme, and Logan, with open arms and loved them as his own. He was there for them, cared deeply for each of them, and treasured the family they built together.

Later in life, Dan was given the name that meant the most to him—Papa. His 12 grandchildren were his pride and joy. He adored each one of them and loved nothing more than watching them grow, making memories with them, and being a part of their lives.

Dan worked for Wonder Bread for many years before later working for Franz. Along the way, he made many wonderful friendships. Dan cared deeply about the people he worked with, and those friendships became an important part of his life.

Dan had a special place in his heart for the outdoors. The mountains were where he felt at home. He loved the river, hunting, fishing, camping, and exploring. Some of his fondest memories were made in the mountains with his parents and brothers. Those adventures became a part of who Dan was and were memories he carried with him throughout his life. He also had a love for old Western shows, perhaps because they reminded him of the places and simple adventures he loved so much.

Dan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maida L. Wirsching; his father, Clarence Wirsching; and his mother, Beverly Wirsching.

He leaves behind his four children, Whitney (Nick) Collins, Vicki Tilley, Jayme Holstine, and Logan Holstine; his 12 grandchildren, whom he loved dearly; his brothers, Steve (Lisa) Wirsching and Dean (Becky) Wirsching; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Auburn Crest Home Health and Hospice and Twin Falls Transitional Care of Cascadia. Thank you for the compassion, kindness, and care you gave Dan and our family during his final days. Your support will never be forgotten.

In keeping with Dan’s wishes, a private service will be held in Stanley, Idaho, on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Dan may be gone from our sight, but the memories he created, the love he gave, and the family he cherished will remain with us forever. He will always be loved, always be remembered, and always be our Papa.
